The final of the annual All-Russian Contest of Bachelors and Masters Graduate Qualification Works of Technical Universities on the Electric Power and Electrical Subjects took place on October 5, 2019, as part of the Youth Day #Вместеярче (Brighter together) of the Russian Energy Week.
Rosseti together with the Organizing Committee of the CIGRE RNA Youth Section has held the competition since 2015. The purpose of the Competition is to select highly potential young specialists for their subsequent employment in a company of the Group and to find innovative technological solutions that can be implemented in the country's electricity grid complex.
The competition jury included: Andrey Mayorov, Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of Rosseti; Konstantin Mikhaylik, Deputy General Director for Operations of Rosseti; Dmitry Vodennikov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Chief Engineer of Rosseti FGC UES; Alexander Pilyugin, First Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of Rosseti Center; Dmitry Gvozdev, First Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of Rosseti Moscow Region; Dmitry Titov, Researcher of the Center for Energy Systems of Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
In his opening speech and parting words, Andrei Mayorov noted: “The good tradition of holding the Competition of Qualifying Works is of great importance. The ideas presented by you may be implemented in startups and pilot projects. New technical ideas will allow us to promote together the scientific and technological progress of the country”.
This year, 430 works from 26 universities were submitted to the competition. 21 graduation papers from 11 technical universities came through to the final.
The list of the winner among the bachelors:
1st place – Victoria Anisimova, I.N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, topic: Digital automation device of advanced network division
2nd place – Alexander Chegodaev, National Research University of MPEI, topic: Evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of energy storage devices to increase the reliability category
3rd place – Alexey Semenov, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, topic: Automatic control of frequency and active power in the energy system
The list of the winner among the masters:
1st place – Nikolai Volokhov, National Research Tomsk State University, topic: Features of the development of asynchronous running in case of instability in various circuit and mode situations and their consideration in determining the settings of automatics for elimination of asynchronous operation devices
2nd place – Denis Snegirev, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin, topic: Development of methods for short-term and operational forecasting of the production of photoelectric solar power plants
3rd place – Dmitry Sharygin, Ivanovo State Power University named after V.I. Lenin, topic: Modeling of EPS facilities for determining the place of the damage
The first place awards were presented by Alexander Novak, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, and Mikhail Kotyukov, Minister of Science and Higher Education.
The Competition for graduates of technical universities has a number of important advantages, both for the participants and for network companies. Graduates get a unique opportunity to learn the opinion of industry experts on the presented graduation works, take professional advice and decide on further directions for the project development. Rosseti gets an opportunity to find motivated and high-potential young specialists and find innovative technical solutions that can be implemented by power engineers in Russian largest electrical companies.
