An open meeting of ROSSETI Technical Managers took place at the Russian Investment Forum 2019 held in Sochi. Andrey Mayorov, Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of the Group of companies, presented plans for the introduction of leading technology, equipment and software into the operation of the power grid complex as part of the implementation of the Digital Transformation 2030 concept.
The subsidiaries were tasked with achieving the unconditional growth of performance indicators to improve significantly the reliability, safety and availability of electricity supply services used by industrial enterprises and the public.
Andrey Mayorov noted that the planned set of measures for digital transformation was aimed at meeting not only current, but future consumer requirements, including not only all-time high level of power supply quality but also the availability of a number of additional services, including Energy Internet development.
The main task for technical specialists is to increase significantly the efficiency of both the entire power grid and the production personnel, as well as to reduce the services costs.
“According to available data, supported by the results of pilot projects on the introduction of digital equipment and technologies implemented in different regions of the country, capital expenditures on construction and modernization of network infrastructure will decrease by at least 15%, and operating expenses - by 30%. This will make it possible not only to restrain the rising cost of electricity in Russia, but also to work out methods of its reduction. In turn, this will positively affect the development of the entire state economy and the competitiveness of all groups of goods produced in the country,” stressed the Chief Engineer of ROSSETI.
As it was stated at the meeting, the implementation of the Digital Transformation 2030 concept implies a new management system of the power grid complex: creation and operation of a digital network model (CIM) with transition from three levels of grids management to one, the effective use of prediction of various factors and events based on deep analysis of big data and the heavy use of artificial intelligence to automate processes that will take place without human participation.
At the end of the event, Andrey Mayorov presented the action plan of the ROSSETI Technical Department for 2019 within the framework of electric grid infrastructure digitization. He drew attention to the fact that only modern technological solutions, allowing to include substations and power lines in the single digital power grid complex, shall be used during the implementation of new construction and modernization of power facilities (on average, 70% of equipment used in the Group of companies end its lifespan established by manufacturers). At the same time, the payback period of investment projects shall not be beyond the period of long-term tariff regulation and exceed 10 years
