ROSSETI presents innovative projects on managing the electricity sector at the Forsage-2014 International Forum of Young Energy and Industrial Workers 21.07.2014

A team of young specialists from ROSSETI presented innovative projects on how to manage the electricity sector at the Forsage-2014 International Forum of Young Energy and Industrial Workers that took place between July 14 and 18, 2014 in the Kaluga Oblast.

This is the second time that the ROSSETI team has participated in the forum and has sent one of the largest teams of 59 young people from the energy sector working for ROSSETI and its subsidiaries. The forum was attended by a total of over 800 delegates.

The main topic for this year's Forsage 2014 was "Values and their Key Role". The event's programme was scheduled in a way that each day was dedicated to one value - Safety, Team Unity, Responsibility for Results, Efficiency, Respect and A Step Ahead. Throughout these projects, participants were able to understand and evaluate the importance of these values to the company's present operations. A "Tree of Values" was installed in the middle of the camp to help participants exchange their opinions. ROSSETI team representatives noted the following essential values: "Safety is the foundation for the operation of the entire electricity sector", "Only working together as a united team can we achieve great results", "To be the best, you must be a step ahead".

The program for the fourth Forsage was rich and diverse as the forum included a total of eight informational subject areas for professional interests. Each subject area had its own workshops led by leading experts, seminars, mini trainings, simulation exercises, the studies of various business cases - practical problems based on real economic, social and business situations - as well as speeches by the top managers from various companies.

The electricity sector team took part in the Energopolis and Technopolis educational programs where team members developed projects pertaining to relevant issues for the electrical energy industry such as technological innovation, the criteria for evaluating and the method to improve the reliability of the Russian Unified Energy System, energy safety, integrating global energy systems and developing the electricity markets.

Over six days of challenging and exciting work, under the supervision of experienced instructors from ROSSETI, the team was able to develop a whole host of innovative solutions which received high scores from the judges. For example, the young creative intellectuals proposed to form a single bank for the innovative needs of companies within the electricity sector at the Centre for the Innovative Development of Power Engineering.

At the forum's closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kaganov stated, "After visiting the forum, I can say with certainty that Russia has a bright future ahead which rests on our energetic and talented young people".

The experience gained here will help participants in the long-term as there are plans for a number of theoretical developments made by the ROSSETI team to be implemented in practice.

Here is what participants had to say about the event.

Head of the Electric Energy Operations Department at the SmolenskEnergo branch of the Central Interregional Distribution Grid Company (a ROSSETI subsidiary) Aleksey Magon: "Young specialists from eight Russian network companies are participating in the Forsage 2014 forum. All companies have their own technical policies and their own approach to how to build electricity networks. However, this forum offered a unique opportunity to communicate with many colleagues, to improve informational exchange with them and to learn about their work experience."

Deputy Head of High-Voltage Transmission Services at the Moscow United Electric Grid Company (a ROSSETI subsidiary) Dmitry Sokolovskiy: "This is my first forum. What interesting things did I learn for myself? Firstly, I met many interesting people from other regions and other network companies. This helped me understand how they work and what kind of problems they encounter. Of course, energy workers face many of the same issues and we tried to resolve these issues during the forum. Secondly, I learned a lot of interesting things from the speeches made by top managers. I personally use some of this advice related to systematic work with your team, especially since I myself am a young manager. I'm only 30 years old."

Next year, ROSSETI will partner with the forum's organisers and plan to organise another educational subject area titled the "Electricity Sector".
