On May 7, a solemn meeting dedicated to the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Victory was held at the Memorial complex to those who fell during the Great Patriotic War, in the building of the Ministry of Energy in Moscow.
Representatives of the Council of War and Labor Veterans of Power Engineers, Yury Manevich, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Andrey Mayorov, Deputy Director-General of Rosseti, Chief Engineer attended the event.
"Today we bow our heads before the labor exploit of the industry workers whose courage, perseverance and selfless commitment had become the key to reliable power supply of defense facilities and enterprises. Despite the enormous damage that our energy system suffered in the first months of the war, by the end of 1945 the volume of electricity generation was brought to the pre-war level, and just two years later our country was rated second in the world by this indicator," Andrei Mayorov said during his speech.
Later, the participants to the meeting went to the Red square, where they honored the memory of the war heroes with a minute of silence and laid flowers and floral tributes at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the monument to Marshal G. K. Zhukov.
