On December 4, 2018, the grand opening of the International Forum “Power Grids”, organized with the support of PJSC "Rosseti", took place in Moscow.
Speaking at the opening, the RF Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak, called the event one of the industry platforms that promotes the dialogue between manufacturers, developers and power grid companies.
According to Alexander Novak, the power grid complex is the basis of the Russian economy, “the country's main artery, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to consumers."
In recent years, the industry managed to achieve good results - reduced relative accident rate by 55%, average power outage frequency by 39%, and power outage average duration - by 33%. Investment volume in the infrastructure development amounted to more than 1.8 trillion rubles, and more than 175 thousand km of power lines and 112 thousand mega-volt-ampere transformer capacity were commissioned.
The head of the Ministry of Energy of Russia noted that new tasks are on the agenda today. “Russian power grid complex must be ready to quickly adapt to modern technological trends associated with the creation of "smart" digital systems, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, the accumulation and transmission of energy over long distances, and the management of large databases. In addition, it is important to solve a number of legislative tasks that will form the basis for further development", the Minister emphasized. “A strategy for the digital transformation of the power grid complex has already been prepared, and should be approved in the near future.” According to A. Novak, there have already been successfully implemented projects in Russia that proved the effectiveness of using digital solutions in the electric power industry.
The Minister of Energy also said that after examining the exhibition, he was impressed with the products and services presented at the forum by domestic manufacturers and developers, and also noted the high importance of direct contact between the consumer and the manufacturer.
Alexander Novak wished all the participants constructive discussions, fruitful work to accomplish the tasks set by the President and the Government of the Russian Federation to implement the digital transformation of the industry and reliable consumer power supply.
"Power Grids" forum takes place from December 4 to December 7 in Moscow in pavilion 75 of the VDNH. This year, according to the organizers, more than 100 speakers from 20 countries of the world will take part in the business program of the forum. It is expected that "Power Grids 2018" will be visited by more than 15000 people. The congress will host an exhibition of the latest developments for the power grid complex of Russia. More than 400 Russian and foreign companies will present their expositions.
