The Director General of JSC Rosseti Oleg Budargin became a member of the State Commission on Arctic Development. The corresponding decree was signed by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev.
The Decree on the State Commission on Arctic Development was signed by the President of the Russian Federation on February 3, 2015. The priority task set before the newly formed advisory structure is the organization of interaction between federal, regional executive bodies and local authorities, other public bodies and organizations in addressing socio-economic and other issues related to the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and national security provision.
The Deputy Prime Minister - Dmitriy Rogozin - was appointed Chairman of the Commission. In total, the Commission included 60 people presenting the Government of the Russian Federation, the presidential administration, law enforcement agencies, as well as representatives of public companies.
In 2014, within St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Director General of JSC Rosseti Oleg Budargin and the President of the Association of Polar Explorers, Inter-Regional Public Organization (ASPOL), Artur Chilingarov, signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of the Far North, the Arctic and the Antarctic. The agreement is aimed at the development of long-term cooperation in the support of implementation of the main directions of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic and in the Antarctic, as well as participation in the formulation and implementation of programmes for the conservation and protection of the environment of the polar regions.
