Russian Grids’ General Director Oleg Budargin and Artur Chilingarov, President of the Association of Polar Explorers, signed a cooperation agreement for development of the far north, the Arctic and the Antarctic.
The agreement is intended to foster long-lasting cooperation that will advance Russian interests in the Arctic and Antarctic and promote conservation and environmental protection in the polar regions.
In Budargin’s words, Russian Grids’ job is to open up Russia’s Arctic coastline. "We realize that it will be difficult for us to pull that off without the support of the Union of Polar Explorers. It is a longtime partner of ours, and Russia does not have more reliable people or a more professional team than the Union," said Budargin.
”I think we arrived at this agreement in the right way,” said Chilingarov. “As the country's oldest organization of polar explorers, we welcome the job Russian Grids is doing today to build up the Arctic.” Under the agreement, ecological safety and the environmental facets of development will garner considerable attention during the joint efforts.
