At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the General Director of Russian Grids, Oleg Budargin, and the Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Nikolai Rogalev, signed a general partnership agreement. It calls for full cooperation in human resource development and sector development, and it upgrades the university to the status of partner with Russian Grids in training workers and providing job skills.
The key areas covered in the agreement are the training and retraining of workers for the electrical power industry, an update to the university engineering training programs, and adoption of instructional activities that combine academic study with hands-on application to the career field. A point of special emphasis is the combined effort to promote the trade among young people and pique their interest in careers in the industry.
Joint research and development, and application of innovations for smart grid development are vital aspects of this cooperation. The expertise the university brings to the team can be deployed in various ways. International, national and intercollegiate tournaments are possible, along with conferences, science fairs and competitions as well as publication of manuals and practical literature.
