Russian Grids and Norilsk Nickel signed a deal to work together on ways to improve electrical service to the Taimyr Peninsula and provide the peninsula with the capability of linking to the nationwide power grid.
The document was signed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum by CEOs Oleg Budargin and Vladimir Potanin.
According to the agreement, the parties will cooperate on a feasibility study of Taimyr’s electrical system to see how reliable it is and what the chances are to integrate it in the common power grid of Russia.
The plans related to this project will be taken into account as Russia’s national power grid and that of the Krasnoyarsk region are developed further. The project is expected to be implmeneted using funds raised after a feasibility study.
