Director General of JSC Russian Grids Oleg Budargin and President of Hyundai Heavy Industries Jung-rae Kim had a working meeting in Moscow today.
The parties considered issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation. In particular, they talked about supplies of high-technology equipment to the JSC Russian Grids facilities.
During the meeting, they also touched upon issues of long-term partnership in the field of localisation of Hyundai Heavy Industries' production in Russia, as well as in the sphere of renewable energy technologies. The parties expressed willingness to develop interaction towards establishing a high-technology energy infrastructure in Russian regions.
The JSC Russian Grids Group and Hyundai Heavy Industries have been implementing joint projects since 2010. One of the most important outcomes of this collaboration has been the opening of a Russian-based plant manufacturing gas-insulated switchgear. The innovative products of Hyundai Heavy Industries have already proven their effectiveness. They are intensively used across the country, including major infrastructure projects in the Far East, Sochi and Siberia.
The application of the gas-insulated switchgear makes it possible to reduce the substation area three-five-fold, cut the operating costs in half, protect the substation equipment against the impact of the external environment and ensure that the most up-to-date environmental requirements are met.
Currently, the companies also have in place an agreement on training the JSC Russian Grids personnel for the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the gas-insulated switchgear produced at Hyundai Heavy Industries' plant.
